Blast From The Past: Christopher Street Bookstore Commercial (Circa Early 90’s)

This commercial for the Christopher Street Bookstore, which aired back in the early nineties usually on Public Access MNN cable television during the Robyn Byrd show is one of the last known clips and record of it.

The Christopher Street bookstore was one of the most popular “adult” bookstores in NYC during the 70’s and the 80’s (which you had to sign a waiver to get into) which featured private video booths complete with gloryholes, and a cavernous downstairs free for all downstairs basement backroom which was closed during the midst of the AIDS crisis.

Up until till its closing in 2006, according to this advert anyway, this used to be the largest bookstore in America! Plus videos, toys and magazines!
