The past two days we have all been saddened and shocked that the Obama Administration has decided to cite DOMA in the immigration case of Bradford Wells, a U.S. citizen, and Anthony John Makk, a citizen of Australia, who were married seven years ago in the state of Massachusetts and have have lived together 19 years. The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has denied Makk’s application to be considered for permanent residency as a spouse of an American citizen citing DOMA and has ordered that Makk leave the country by August 25th, 2011
John Anthony Makk is the primary and only caregiver to his husband who suffers with AIDS related illnesses.
This is abominable. And we should not and will not allow this to happen.
