UPDATE: Baltimore McDonalds Fire Employee Who Videotaped Savage Beeting Of Trangender Woman

The owner of the McDonalds’s franchise in the Rosemont section of Baltimore, Maryland where a 22 year old transgender woman was brutally beaten last week while McDonalds employees looked on announced on Saturday afternoon that an employee who taped the violent beating — a video that went viral Friday — had been fired.

My first and foremost concern is with the victim,” franchise owner Mitchell McPherson said in a statement, adding that action might be taken against other restaurant workers as well. “I’m as shocked and disturbed by this assault as anyone would be. The behavior displayed in the video is unfathomable and reprehensible.”

Equality Maryland has confirmed that the victim is a transgender woman and called on state Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler to step in and investigate the case as a hate crime.

Interestingly police and prosecutors said they did not know whether the victim is a transgender woman.

The police report does not provide a motive, but quotes one of the suspects saying that the fight was “over using a bathroom.”   Transgender bathroom use is one of the major talking points that anti-gay “Christian” groups use to demonize the LGBT community spread bigotry and hatred
