10 States File Amicus Brief In Support Of Prop 8 Stating That The Federal Court "Exceeded It;s Judicial Authority"

Ten states have united in support of California’s gay marriage ban, Proposition 8 by filing an amicus brief on Friday saying that  the federal court “exceeded its judicial authority” in ruling against the gay marriage ban, the Casper Star-Tribune reported.

“If public affirmation of anyone and everyone’s personal love and commitment is the single purpose of marriage, a limitless number of rights claims could be set up that evacuate the term marriage of any meaning,” The brief also says that states, not the federal courts, have final say in deciding whether to recognize the unions of gay and lesbian couples with marriage.  (I am sure this will go over well with the Federal Judges)

The states listed in the brief are Alabama, Wyoming, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, South Carolina, Utah and Virginia.

Becky Vandeberghe, of WyWatch Family Action, a Wyoming-based family-values group that opposes gay marriage, said she was “very pleased” to see that Wyoming joined the brief. WyWatch joined more than 30 other groups in submitting an amicus brief of their own to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals last week against the California decision

These people are just insane.

Seriously every one of tthese states listed have problems with unemployment, foreclosures, homelessness and inadequet state funds. etc? And THIS is how they spend their taxpayers money?
