Brendan Burke, the youngest son of Toronto Maple Leafs president Brian Burke, and who’s coming out story received international attention, died today from injuries suffered in a car accident. He was only 21 years old.
Brendan and friend Mark A. Reedy, 18, were driving on a snow-covered highway in Indiana when, witnesses say, Brendan’s car slid into the path of a truck.
The Maple Leafs released the following statement: “On behalf of the entire Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment family, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Brian Burke. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Burke family during this extremely difficult time.”
